GeoSystems   ....:::..:::...   GeoSystems provides high resolution relief maps covering most of the earth's landmass based on SRTM and GTOPO30 elevation data.

Relief Maps   ....:::..:::...   Click on Reliefs to view the maps with fast zooming and panning and a simple but excellent navigation system, powered by Zoomify. The Flash Version is best viewed with Firefox and requires Macromedia Flash Player Version 6 or above. As well as using the toolbar controls described in Help, you can directly navigate on the map.

PHP Version   ....:::..:::...   Visit www.srtm.com to view the PHP Version, an older version without panning, so the navigation is slightly complicated, but runs without Flash. At the moment this version offers more features like a location bar to view randomly chosen tiles, a popup menu to select and fade in Wikipedia links and an input field for geographic coordinates.

Technique   ....:::..:::...   To provide global relief maps 14571 SRTM tiles sized 40 GB together and GTOPO30 data were processed and composed to an image of 432000 x 216000 pixel (93.312 gigapixel) and split later on to 259200 tiles sized 600 x 600 pixel. The computation time was about one month on a 1.60 GHz prozessor with 1024 MB Ram.

Blue Marble   ....:::..:::...   Blue Marbe is a satellite image of the earth with a resolution of 43200 x 21600 pixel.

Credits   ....:::..:::...   Thanks to Jonathan de Ferranti for his great work filling SRTM data voids and offering the corrected maps on his homepage www.viewfinderpanoramas.org for public use. Also thanks to the GMT team and their great support while generating SRTM relief maps.
